    Hi Latin Lovers in Kauai,

We will be back in Kauai at the end of May beginning of June ’15 for 3 weeks.

Q: Are the “Hot Latin Nights” parties always on the 1st Saturday of the (every) Month?
So we can plan our visit around that time.

We enjoyed it last time when were there in Dec 2012.

    Hope to see you again.

Greetings from The Netherlands (Holland – The Wooden shoes Country).

    Zack & Nel

Latin Night at Aloha Beach Resort has been moved to the first FRIDAY of the month. We also have a new Latin band which plays on certain nights throughout the year. If you’d like to receive my dance emails on Saturdays, email me at and that way you’ll be able to know what’s happening before you arrive. You may always unsubscribe at any time. Rae-Marie

Are there country & western dances held somewhere on the island of Kauai on a regular bases?

    • January 16, 2015 10:23 am

No, I’m afraid not. There is country line dancing at the bowling alley in Lihue every Wednesday night.

  6. September 27, 2014 1:10 pm

Paul, YES!!! Tuesday nights at Rob’s Good Times Grill in Lihue. 7:30 – 10:00 We have a small, but very passionate group who love to dance WCS. Please join us!

Where can I take ballroom dancing lessons on Kauai?

    • March 10, 2014 4:50 pm

There are two ballroom groups on the island; one in Lihue and one in Hanapepe. They have classes but you must come with a partner. The North Shore Dance Group holds dance classes at Kilauea Neighborhood center on Monday nights. Singles are welcome. I send out a weekly dance email which lists the dance venues on Kauai. If you’d like to receive this email or have other questions, please email me at Rae-Marie

Is there Salsa Dancing on Kauai?

  9. September 13, 2013 4:31 pm

Aloha! Can anyone confirm that this list of dance places in Kauai is current? Especially the ones in Kukui Grove/Lihue?

  10. March 20, 2013 7:28 am

Is anyone dancing Kizomba or Zouk on Kauai? I’m coming to visit for a week and was hoping to find some Kizombeios or even Bachateros to fill me in on any local socials that are happening. Thanks!

    • March 20, 2013 8:31 am

I’m assuming these are latin dances? I’m not familiar with them. There is a latin social the first Saturday of every month at Aloha Beach Resort. Don’t know if you’ll be on island then. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. Have fun while you’re in Paradise! Rae-Marie

      • March 20, 2013 5:27 pm

They are latin dances – they are Angolan/Brazilian, and Kizomba typically draws on tango technique. The community is still growing in the US but there are regular festivals/congresses for Kizomba (the San Francisco one was just last weekend, where I live). Often times they get lumped into latin socials with Bachata.

I won’t be there the first week of April, but maybe I’ll be able to find another latin dance social? Looks like there’s one on Thursdays at Backyards Bar & Grill in Kapaa, and Wednesdays at Small Town Coffee in Kapaa… and DJ bliss has an event at Backyards on Friday and Tortilla Republic on Saturday – do you have any information about these?

      • March 21, 2013 8:45 am

I’m sorry to say I don’t. The group I’m associated with is passionate about West Coast Swing. There is a group of latin dancers on island but as far as I know they don’t have a blog or website. My suggestion would be to call the restaurants once you arrive on Kauai because their schedule probably changes each week. There is a live music website which may also have information about these venues. It is Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the help and information… I will see what I can find out once I arrive! 🙂

I read someplace that there was R & B/motown dancing (unstructured, but with a teacher/facilitator) on Saturday in Kauai someplace. —Is that so, and if so, where and what time? Mahalo!!

Glad you found us, but I’m not sure what you’re looking for. I send out a dance email every Saturday. If you’d like to be included, let me know. That way you’ll be able to see the dancing events that I’m aware of. Rae-Marie

Good luck on your visit, Zaechery!

What a coincidence! I have spent the last several days trying to book airfare to The Netherlands in September of next year!! Would love to talk with you while you’re here. Unfortunately the dance scene around that time of year is pretty slow, but I send an email out every Saturday and would love to send it to you if you’d like. Just let me know. There is a Latin night once a month, but it’s the first Saturday of the month. We have a small, but passionate group that gets together to dance on Tuesdays so you could join us on the 18th if you’re not too tired. Unfortunately the music is mostly for West Coast Swing, NiteClub 2-Step, Cha Cha, Hustle, and a bit of country. There’s usually a token salsa or rumba. You might have fun anyway. Keep in touch and let me know if you’d like the email. Rae-Marie 808 826-9525

        Hello Rae-Marie,

        That would be great.
We will be at Honolulu from the 17-19th and on the 19th on the Island of Kauai till the 27th.
This is our second time in less than 1 year on the island.
We loved it the first time (may 2011) and now returning.
We will contact you as soon we arrived – and rested ;o).
        Thx for the hospitability

Mahalo (= “Bedankt” in Dutch / The Netherlands)

Thank you for contacting us. I will send you my email from last weekend. Unfortunately the Nawiliwili Yacht Club dance which was to be held on the 18th is canceled. I don’t know of any other latin events during the time that you will be here. The dancing at Rob’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays is mostly swing, niteclub 2-step, cha cha, hustle …… with a token salsa thrown in. We do have a tango group on the island and the email is included in mine. Thanks for your interest. I hope you are able to join us for one of these events.

I dance only Latin dances – salsa, bachata, merengue, cha-cha…. Is there any place to dance salsa on Kauai the evenings of January 7 – 10, 2011 (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon)??? Thank you! – David-

    • December 22, 2010 9:42 am

      Aloha David,

Unfortunately the only latin night I know of is the first Saturday of each month. That would be the 1st next month. It’s possible that they may move it to the 8th. I’ll try to find out. But, in case I don’t (leaving today for CA), call the Aloha Beach Resort when you arrive and ask. Thanks for your interest.
